The Queens County Democratic Party designated nine candidates for Queens Supreme Court judgeships Thursday, choosing six current civil and criminal court judges and renominating three current justices for positions on the state bench.

The Democratic nominees for state Supreme Court include Civil Court Supervising Judge Tracy Catapano Fox, Criminal Court Supervising Judge Michelle A. Johnson, Civil Court Judge Mojgan Lancman, Criminal Court Judge Karina Alomar, Civil Court Judge Leonard Livote and Civil Court Judge Lance Evans.

Queens Supreme Court Justices Darrell Gavrin, Evelyn Braun and Kevin Kerrigan were each designated for new 14-year terms.

County party judicial conventions convene the Democratic Party’s 180 judicial delegates — 10 from each Assembly District in Queens — or their proxies.

Delegates gathered inside Antun’s Catering Hall in Queens Village, which was transformed to meet state social distancing guidelines.

The delegates, including several state and city officeholders, sat at chairs spaced at least six feet apart throughout the large banquet room. Others sat in an overflow room.

The judicial nominees will appear on the November general election ballot.
