The Queens County Clerk’s office is urging people to use an online system to access certain court records in order to promote social distancing and stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Cases and business or corporation certificates can be found on the county clerks' website with an index number, party or attorney name, or file date. Cases filed through the New York State Electronic Filing System can be accessed through the NYS court website.

"We have been working to get these records accessible online because we have a lot of people attempting to come into our office to search through County Clerk records, but we are closed to everything except Emergency Applications, so they are turned away,” said Raymond Weaver, the deputy administrator in the Clerk’s office. “We’re hoping that this will help people stay home and stay safe."

The Queens Supreme Court, where the clerk’s office is located, is temporarily closed and operations have temporarily moved into the Civil Court. There are only a handful of employees there at a time to manage requests, said Weaver.
