A construction worker was killed on Tuesday when a wall in a home he was working on fell, crushing him, officers from the 100th Precinct say.
Police officials told the Eagle that the victim, Jose Martins, 67, was working as part of a construction crew on the third floor of the home, located on Beach 67 Street, when the wall fell.
“He tried to run away but was unsuccessful,” an NYPD spokesperson told the Eagle.
Martins, who lived in New Jersey, was unconscious when EMS arrived on the scene just after 2:15 p.m. He was rushed to St. John's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is ongoing and the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death, police said.
