Kids and adults in Queens are stuck at home, looking for activities to occupy their days in isolation and take their minds off the stress of COVID-19.
So the Eagle has put out the call to local artists and illustrators: Help us provide some fun stuff for children, adults and families throughout the borough.
Psychologist and artist Laurie Scherer responded, submitting artwork that honors her favorite soccer club,, the legendary NY Cosmos.
Scherer illustrated three iconic photographs from the Cosmos’ rich history, including a class image (above) of the all-time greats Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer and Giorgio Chinaglia.
The images can be printed at home and, Scherer says, “should be great for coloring either inside (or outside!) of the lines.”
Scherer is a member of the Glitter Goddess Art Collective, an inclusive group of artists and performers.
“I believe that all forms of movement + expression need to be supported — whether it is on the pitch, on the stage, in the studio, or, more presently, in the living room! “ she says. “As a psychologist, I can wholeheartedly say that any project that combines community, the arts, and time with loved ones is the optimal antidote for this uniquely challenging period in which we find ourselves. “
Thanks for the great images, Laurie.
