Public Defender Tiffany Cabán conceded defeat in the Democratic primary for Queens District Attorney to Borough President Melinda Katz following a protracted battle for the nomination.

“Stages like this were not made or built for people like me. And that had changed,” Cabán told her supporters and media at a party in Astoria.

Cabán thanked her gathered volunteers and supporters. The mood was hopeful as Cabán listed off her accomplishments in an unprecedented campaign, such as pushing the conversation further left on issues like eliminating cash bail.

“We terrified the Democratic establishment,” Cabán said to uproarious cheers.
