Two Broadway performers from Woodside are playing a key role in keeping their neighbors safe and healthy during the coronavirus outbreak.

Actors Steven Taylor, who plays a Mufasa in “The Lion King,” and Holly Ann Butler, who stars in previews for the new “Diana the Musical,” sewed a batch of masks for their neighbors in the Woodside Houses.

The two actors contacted local Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, who partnered with Sunnyside Community Services to help deliver food along with the masks on Wednesday.

Van Bramer said Taylor and Butler wanted to ensure the masks went to New Yorkers of color, who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
