The Long Island Music Hall of Fame has announced that it is accepting applications for an initiative which honors Long Island high schools for their work in music education.

LIMHOF’s Fifth Annual High School Recognition Program recognizes high school music programs that successfully adhere to the National and New York State Standards for the Arts in creating meaningful experiences for students.

A panel of music educators, some of whom have been honored by LIMHOF as Educators of Note, will review applications and award schools in categories which include program details, inclusion of standards, faculty, community and board support.

Schools recognized by the panel will be invited to participate in an upcoming LIMHOF event.

“We are very excited to offer Long Island schools an opportunity to have their music programs objectively evaluated,” said LIMHOF Vice Education Committee Chairman Tom Needham. “We will not only honor programs but will also share feedback and learn more about the challenges each school faces as we continue to support and promote music education on Long Island.”

Applications are due by Mar. 20. For more information, visit https://www.limusichalloffame.org/scholarshipsgrants/.
