Cops arrest Springfield Gardens teen for fatal street shooting

By Jonathan Sperling

More than a month after a Springfield Gardens man was found fatally shot in the chest, 105th Precinct cops have made an arrest in the alleged homicide.

Keanu Suckoo, 18, was taken into custody and charged with murder, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Thursday. Investigators believe he is responsible for the March 5 shooting of Pernell Cudjoe.

Cudjoe, 27, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest near 180th Street and 145th Avenue when police arrived at the scene. Cudjoe lived just blocks away on 145th Drive.

EMS responded and rushed Cudjoe to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Suckoo’s arrest comes less than a week after police in Jackson Heights arrested Nestor Londono, 49, for fatally shooting a man in the chest in a home on 88th Street.

At least 38 people have been shot in Queens since the start of 2019, according to NYPD CompStat 2.0 data.
