Perv Exposes Himself on E Train As Reported Sex Crimes Rise Citywide

A man exposed himself and touched his genitals in front of a woman aboard a Jamaica-bound E train on Wednesday, amid an increase in reported sex crimes, according to the NYPD.

Cops from the 112th Precinct say that the suspect exposed himself and touched himself in front of a 28-year-old woman as she rode the train at the Forest Hills-71st Avenue subway station just after 5 p.m.

After he exposed himself, the suspect fled the train in an unknown direction.  The NYPD described him as being Hispanic, in his fifties, 6ft tall and 180lbs, He was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a beige baseball cap, military green jacket and dark sweatpants.

The incident occurred amid a debate on banning repeat sex offenders from using the subway system. Subway sex crimes on are on the rise, with 165 incidents reported through March 17, The New York Times wrote on Wednesday. That’s a 10 percent increase compared with the same period last year.

Reports of misdemeanor sex crimes are also on the rise outside of the subway, according to NYPD data.

Citywide misdemeanor sex crime reports rose 25 percent this year when compared to the same time period in 2018, increasing from 641 to 803. Nearly every other crime category has decreased, with the exception of rape and shooting incidents.
