Hon. Valerie Brathwaite Nelson, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, Second Department was designated as the liaison between the Second Department and Queens County Bar Association Leaders.

On March 18, Justice Brathwaite Nelson hosted an introductory meeting with the Bar Association leaders at her Jamaica chambers, where attendees discussed Unified Practice Rules of the Appellate Division, the local rules of the Second Department, oral arguments at the Second Department, the Second Department’s Mediation Program and the Second Department’s new rule concerning settlement or withdrawal of motions, appeals or proceedings.

Attendees included Patricia A. Powis, Esq., president, Columbian Lawyers of Queens County and a board member of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association; Eric Legh, Esq., executive director of the LGBT Bar of NY; Kristin Browne, Esq., president, LGBT Bar Association of Greater NY; Thomas J.
