A 21-year-old Flatlands man is facing time on Rikers Island for allegedly choking and robbing a laundromat worker last week, police said.

Dontae Bennett was arrested on Tuesday evening after police released photographs of him allegedly nearby the Family Laundry on Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven on Jan. 7.

A 50-year-old employee of the laundromat said Bennett punched her in the face and dragged her into the bathroom where he choked her until she lost consciousness, police said.

Before Bennett left the business, he allegedly took the woman’s cell phone.

Bennett is awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court for robbery, criminal obstruction of breathing, unlawful imprisonment, assault and trespassing charges.
