A 74-year-old Howard Beach woman was killed when a driver attempting to make a right turn struck and killed her as she was crossing the street, just five minutes away from her home.

Mark Dudzinski was driving along Cross Bay Boulevard in a Ford Escape. Dudzinski tried to make a right turn onto 159th Avenue when he struck Waiching Chen, according to police.

Chen, 74, suffered severe body trauma and was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

After an investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad, Dudzinski was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
