Rockaway Beach Woman Dies In Fire

Authorities are investigating an early morning fire that claimed the life of a 47-year-old woman.

Minutes before 8 a.m. on Monday, firefighters were called to a one-family home on Beach 95th Street where Dawn Greig was found unconscious and unresponsive.

Police and fire department officials confirmed that the fire is under investigation and arson is not ruled out as of press time.

Greig, 47, was taken to St. John’s Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police said the medical examiner will determine Greig’s cause of death.

Additionally, three firefighters were also taken to St. John’s Hospital for minor injuries sustained while fighting the fire.
