An internal investigation has launched at a Howard Beach non-profit organization that assist individuals with and families of those with autism.

The investigation, which was first reported by the Queens Chronicle, was confirmed by Jerry Solomon, an attorney with the firm Barclay Damon, LLP. firm, but the reasons for the launch are classified information.

The firm was hired by the New York Families of Autistic Children (NYFAC) executive board for an internal investigation, and the law firm, subsequently, hired the accounting firm The Bonadio Group for auditing purposes.

Solomon, who previously served as regional director for the state Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, told the Eagle on Tuesday that external groups were not investigating the case.

“The FBI did not raid the place on Friday, there were no raids,” he said. “No law enforcement agencies are involved, this is an internal investigation.”

Moving forward, Solomon aims to conclude the investigation in roughly two weeks, present the findings to the board allow them to make their own decisions.

“We just want to make sure the treatment for these vulnerable patients continue interrupted,” he said.
