A Woodhaven elementary school is undergoing a deep clean after a member of the school’s community tested positive for coronavirus.

The New York City Department of Education announced that P.S. 306, or the New York City Academy for Discovery, would receive the disinfecting clean up on Sunday following news that someone with a connection to the school has the virus.

The New York Post reported on Saturday that the person was an NYPD school safety agent, and has not been to work since March 4.

DOE plans to reopen school for regular instruction on Monday, March 16, according to an announcement on Twitter

The cleaning comes as a growing wave of teachers and parents push for schools to close during the coronavirus outbreak.

Acting Borough President Sharon Lee urged all parents to keep their children home from school in a statement on Sunday.

“I strongly urge all Queens families, in no uncertain terms, to keep all children home away from school this week,” said Lee.
