A “Queens Virtual Recruitment Fair” seeks to connect unemployed residents with jobs now available in essential industries.

The fair will be hosted via the video conferencing platform WebEx, where employers will make brief presentations about the hundreds of jobs they have available. The virtual event will include 70 employers, such as the New York State Police Department, NYC Health + Hospitals, FreshDirect, AT&T, MetroPlus, Family Dollar and Amazon.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is devastating the workforce and deepening its toll on frontline and essential workers,” said Acting Queens Borough President Sharon Lee, who is sponsoring the event.

“Some industries, however, especially on the frontlines, are still hiring. This is a localized effort here in the epicenter of the pandemic, aiming to match people to immediate and vital opportunities, and to help stem the tide of this unprecedented public health and economic crisis,” she said.

The job fair will occur on April 22 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Queens Borough President’s Office will be livestreaming the event at queensbp.org/recruitmentfair, and prospective applicants interested in participating can RSVP at queensbp.org/RSVP.
