Is that Ellie Kemper in Queens?

On Wednesday, the Eagle spotted the cast of “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” filming along Fresh Pond Road in Maspeth. The Netflix original produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock and starring Ellie Kemper is now in its fifth season. The show chronicles the life and times of late-20s New York City transplant Kimmy Schmidt as she adjusts to life in the Big Apple.

Previous episodes have been filmed in Astoria, as DNAInfo reported back in 2015.

“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” is not the only series to make its way to Queens in recent weeks. Last month, USA Network’s “Mr. Robot” was seen filming in Queensbridge Park and Long Island City

And in April, “The Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” shot scenes in Ridgewood, more than a decade after the original series filmed there.

Though Manhattan tends to get all of the credit, a number of films and TV series have used the borough as a set, including “The Godfather,” “Goodfellas” and “Men in Black.”
