Two alleged “pimps” and members of the Brooklyn-based "Insane Crip Gangsters" gang were arrested and charged on Friday in federal court with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and promoting prostitution.
Prosecutors say the duo drugged a woman, a single mother, and deprived her of food and sleep in order to get her to do what they wanted. They also claim that the duo tattooed their victim with their names and promoted their prostitution business on social media.
Gladimir Thomas, a 31-year-old also known as Sleep, Sleep Boss and Daddy; and Ronald Thomas, a 27-year-old known as Roco, Roco Da Boss and Daddy; were arraigned in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District in front of Magistrate Judge Steven Tiscione.
“As alleged, over a period of years, the defendants forced a woman to prostitute herself, while they enriched themselves at her expense,” stated United States Attorney Richard Donoghue. “This office will continue to work with the FBI and our local law enforcement partners to put an end to the criminal acts of those who seek to profit from sexual slavery.”
The two defendants allegedly prostituted their victim in Queens, Brooklyn and Harlem between 2014 and 2018.
Both defendants have a violent criminal history, including Gladimir, who was convicted of assault in the third degree on Dec. 3, 2019 in connection with an incident in which he was stopped by cops in Brooklyn after they observed him driving the wrong way down a one-way street.
Ronald currently has three separate pending cases of robbery in the second degree pending in the borough, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors claim to have evidence recovered from Gladimir's cell phone and Ronald's Facebook and Instagram accounts depicting guns, bulletproof vests, narcotics and 20 fake ID cards.
The top charge of sex trafficking carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and has the potential for life in prison.
The Insane Crip Gangsters are allegedly a local subset of the Crips gang.
