Two NYPD officers were wounded in a shoot-out with a CUNY security guard who opened fire outside a home in Springfield Gardens Tuesday afternoon. The officers managed to shoot and kill the man, 41-year-old CUNY peace officer Rondell Goppy.

The cops were escorting Goppy’s wife Sharon Goppy back to the home after she filed a report of domestic violence against her husband, police said. A few minutes after they arrived, Goppy approached the house at 145-86 179th Street and opened fire.

One officer was shot in the hand and and another in the leg. Both were in stable condition at Jamaica Hospital, Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a press conference at the hospital Tuesday.

“They have serious injuries but ultimately they are going to be OK,” de Blasio said. “There was such a feeling of relief among the families to know that.”

Goppy worked at CCNY in Manhattan and was licensed to legally possess the guns, despite being the subject of four previous domestic violence reports, the Daily News reported.
