President Donald Trump’s younger brother has filed paperwork in Queens Surrogate’s Court to kill a tell-all book written by the chief executive’s estranged niece.
The president’s younger brother Robert Trump filed paperwork Tuesday in the Queens court requesting a restraining order to block niece Mary Trump and publisher Simon & Schuster from releasing the book, billed as an account of Trump family intrigue.
Mary Trump is the daughter of Fred Trump Jr., the late older brother of Donald Trump, who had alcohol use issues and was reportedly mistreated by the president and their father Fred Trump Sr.
Robert Trump’s court filing claims the book would violate a nondisclosure agreement related to the settlement of the eldest Trump’s estate. Fred Trump Sr. died in 1999 and his estate was administered in Queens Surrogate’s Court in 2001. Donald Trump was born in Queens and lived in Jamaica Estates.
The book, titled “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” is set to be released July 28 by publisher Simon & Schuster.
The filing by Robert Trump’s attorney, Charles Harder, requests an order to show cause by Queens County Surrogate’s Court Judge Peter Kelly.
Kelly has not yet responded to the filing.
“President Trump and his siblings seek to suppress a book that will discuss matters of utmost public importance,” said Mary Trump’s attorney Ted Boutros from the law firm Gibson Dunn. “They are pursuing this unlawful prior restraint because they do not want the public to know the truth. The courts will not tolerate this brazen violation of the First Amendment.”
Attorneys representing Simon & Schuster and Robert Trump did not immediately respond to emails seeking comment.
