The Summer Kids at the Landing program will return to Hunter’s Point South Park for the fourth consecutive year, with event activities starting today and taking place through Aug. 16.

The event series provides a space for children to participate in educational and stimulating activities and is co-organized by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy and Gantry Parent Association. There are nine free activities each week at LIC Landing.

The events are first-come, first-served and pre-registration will be required for Thursday morning art classes which is capped at 60 participants.

“We started Summer Kids four years ago hoping to provide fun and educational activities and get the younger members of our community to appreciate our beautiful waterfront parks. This has been accomplished with the continued growth and popularity of Summer Kids and we are very excited about this year’s lineup,” said Rob Basch, president of Hunters Point Parks Conservancy. “Young families continue to make Long Island City their home and it is important to give them a reason to stay here and raise their families. The programming is great, the location is great and the price is right so join us for Summer Kids.”

More than 3,500 children attended over 50 events during last year’s session. This year’s lineup will feature Andy & Suzanna, Story Time with Friends of Court Square Library, Jiggy Tots with McManus Irish Dance, Bricks 4 Kidz Lego, Art with Leonie, and many  more.

"We are very excited to kick off our fourth summer of kid’s programming. It’s been really great to see hundreds of LIC kids and their families engage in and enjoy the Summer Kids activities over the past few summers.” said Dana Aussenberg, vice chair of Gantry Parent Association. “We are looking forward to having many of our past performers return, as well as some fantastic new ones, such as Jam and Jiggle and Yogi Beans.”
