Citi Bike is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its Reduced Fare Bike Share program by offering new riders who are NYCHA residents and/or SNAP recipients a free month of Citi Bike rides.

Individuals who qualify for the offer can receive their one-month membership by visiting any of the nearly 60 public libraries in the Citi Bike service area and picking up a special gift certificate.

To redeem the free trial, riders may go to citibikenyc.com/reducedfare and click “Join for $5/month,” then enter their NYCHA account number or EBT number to verify eligibility. Next, click “Redeem a Gift Certificate or Discount Code” and enter your code before completing the sign-up process and downloading the Citi Bike app.

Riders have access to unlimited 45-minute rides during the 30-day period. After the end of the promotional period, riders can choose to continue their membership by paying $5 a month, the cost of the Reduced Fare Bike Share program. There is no annual commitment or auto-renewal.

Presently, Citi Bike docks can be found in Northwestern Brooklyn, Manhattan and Western Queens, including in Long Island City and Astoria. Citi Bike announced in July that it plans to double the size of its service area to 35 square miles and triple the number of bikes to 40,000 by 2023, offering Citi Bike service in Sunnyside, Maspeth, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights and Corona, among other city neighborhoods.
