A St. Albans man who shot and killed an off-duty correction during a bout of road rage was sentenced to 23 years in prison in Queens Supreme Court Thursday.

Former MTA maintenance worker Gifford Hunter had pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter for pulling out a gun and firing one shot into the car of off-duty correction officer Jonathan Narain. The deadly dispute occurred at the intersection of 103rd Avenue and 120th Street in South Richmond Hill at around 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, 2018.

Prosecutors said Hunter, who was riding a motorcycle, was angry with Narain for cutting him off and followed him to the red light.

Justice Michael Aloise handed down the prison sentence plus five years post-release supervision.
