A home invasion in Richmond Hill turned into a scary standoff Tuesday night when two armed assailants barricaded themselves inside the 125th Street building.
Police responded to the incident at around 8:45 p.m. when a 36-year-old woman living in the house called 911. The two would-be thieves did not surrender until 2 a.m. Wednesday, according to the NYPD.
The NYPD's Emergency Services Unit, Hostage Negotiation Team and Aviation all responded to the scene and began talking to the home invaders until they released the woman and her baby, as well as three other women who were inside.
Police arrested the two suspects, a 35-year-old man and 51-year-old man, and recovered two guns, and NYPD spokesperson said. The NYPD did not immediately identify the defendants.
