U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the presidential race on Thursday morning, bringing an end to a campaign that made an early impression on Queens.

Warren hosted a campaign event almost one year ago in Long Island City, bashing Amazon to a crowd of 1,000 people shortly after the mega-corporation announced it was pulling out of a deal to build a corporate campus in the neighborhood

“Amazon came. Amazon left,” Warren told the crowd, The Verge reported at the time. “That is the problem in America today. We have these giant tech companies that think they rule the earth.”

One of the focal points of Warren’s campaign was her hard stance on tech companies, and her threats to break up the likes of Amazon, Facebook and Google

Warren had supporters among the progressive faction of Queens Democrats, including Councilmembers Jimmy Van Bramer and Costa Constantinides and Assemblymember Catalina Cruz.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders and U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard are the only three candidates left vying for the Democractic presidential nomination. Only Sanders has campaigned Queens in the past year.
