Police have arrested a Queens Village man who they say stabbed his roommate multiple times last month, ultimately killing him.

Hopeton Prendergast, 64, was arrested on Wednesday, less than a month after cops say he stabbed his housemate Duwayne Campbell to death inside of their home on 220th Street near 103rd Avenue. Campbell was 23.

Officers from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call about an assault at the home on Sept. 29, and found Campbell unconscious with multiple stab wounds. EMS rushed him to North Shore Manhasset Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Prendergast was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.

The New York Post reported that the stabbing occurred during an argument between the two roommates, but NYPD officials could not confirm a motive when asked by the Eagle on Thursday.

A total of 32 murders were recorded by the NYPD in the Queens South patrol district between Jan. 1, 2019 and Oct. 13, 2019. A total of 34 murders were recorded in the area during the same time last year.
