Queens Public Library adds to catalog of online services
/By Rachel Vick
The Queens Public Library has expanded its online catalog of education services to better serve isolated New York City students, adults and families.
QPL recently launched Brainfuse, a learning platform, to support students of all ages, in both English and Spanish — all they need is a library card. The program provides one-on-one tutoring for kindergarten through 12th grade students in various subjects, as well as test prep for the PSAT, Advanced Placement exams and college entrance exams.
The service also offers career resources for adults, including live resume assistance, preparation materials for the citizenship test and information about the high school equivalency exam.
Last week, the library debuted Chinese- and Spanish-language storytimes and a book club every Wednesday at noon for the rest of April.
Every Thursday at 11 a.m., QPL will host Virtual Drag Queen Story Hour, bringing the popular program into patrons homes to raise awareness of gender diversity through storytelling and songs.
QPL Hip Hop coordinator Ralph McDaniels will continue his all-vinyl DJ sets on the library’s Instagram, with live streams every Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
A full list of the QPL’s quarantine resources is available on their website.
