New York City is about halfway through the early voting period and Queens is lagging behind.

Through the first three days of early voting, around 9,800 of the borough’s roughly 1.2 million registered and active voters cast an early ballot in the Nov. 2 general election, according to the Board of Elections. That’s less than 1 percent of active voters.

But Queens isn’t the only borough that’s seen less than 1 percent of its voting population come out early – around 0.7 percent of Brooklyn voters and 0.7 of voters in the Bronx tried to beat the Election Day crowds through the first three days of early voting.

Around 1.3 percent of voters in Manhattan have voted early and around 1.5 percent of Staten Island voters have already cast ballots.

Though Democrats still outnumber Republicans on Staten Island, it’s still home to the highest percentage of Republican voters by far. The New York City Board of Elections does not share party affiliations of early voters.

Early voting continues through Sunday, Oct. 31. Check out the 22 early voting sites in Queens here.
