A celebrity personal shopper from Long Island City stole more than $1 million from actor Kevin Hart, according to Queens prosecutors who charged him with grand larceny and various other offenses Wednesday.
Dylan Jason Syer, 29, was arraigned in Queens after he allegedly racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases on Hart’s credit cards between October 2017 and February 2019, said Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
“The defendant thought he was beyond reach and was living out his uber-rich lifestyle fantasies,” Katz said in a statement.
Hart, a comedian and actor known for films like “Ride Along” and “Get Hard,” gave Syer access to his credit cards in 2015 when he hired the Long Island City resident to purchase items on his behalf. Syer runs a personal shopping company that contracts with celebrities and other wealthy individuals.
In October 2017, Syer began making unauthorized purchases worth about $923,000 using Hart’s cards, prosecutors said. He also bought $240,000 worth of jewelry and watches purchased from a jeweler in California, they added.
The items included five Patek Phillipe watches valued at more than $400,000.
Syer’s attorney did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment.
If convicted Syer faces up to 25 years in prison.
