A social service organization located on the campus of the Queensbridge Houses will host a one-day COVID vaccine drive on Sunday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.
Medical workers from Northwell Health will administer vaccines at Jacob Riis Settlement from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 7. The site is located on the Queensbridge Houses campus at 10-25 41st Ave.
Members of the Queensbridge Tenants Association and others in the community have begun sharing information about the one-day vaccine site on Facebook and through word-of-mouth.
A post on the tenant group’s Facebook page says appointments “are intended for residents of the Queensbridge Houses and members of the local Queens Community.” Appointments can be made online or by phone.
Riis Settlement is one of 12 temporary sites opening this weekend with a goal of vaccinating more than 4,000 people, Cuomo said Thursday.
He said the state will open similar community-based vaccine sites at 33 NYCHA senior housing developments in the coming weeks.
“Reaching underserved communities across the state is critical to a vaccination strategy that serves all New Yorkers, and community-based pop-up sites bring the vaccine directly to those who have been hardest hit by the virus,” Cuomo said.
