NYPD cop killed by drag-racing driver in Bayside

A cop was killed on his way to work Saturday when a drag-racing driver plowed into his Harley along the Cross Island Parkway.
NYPD officer Richard Holt, 34, died shortly after the 5:30 p.m. collision in Bayside. The driver who killed him was racing his BMW against another motorist, police said.
Holt, the president of a local motorcycle club, was brought to New York-Presbyterian Queens where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the BMW waited at the scene, but the other vehicle fled, the Daily News reported.
Holt’s Unwanted LEMC motorcycle club including many law enforcement officers, and had been selected to represent the group in this year’s 9/11 Memorial Parade, according to the News.
“Rest in peace to our president. He is a brother, an original, a founder, a police officer, and a son,” Unwanted LEMC wrote on Facebook.
Holt was currently serving on the coronavirus response unit, but his usual beat was the NYPD homeless outreach team.
