No appointment needed at these Queens vaccine sites

Gone are the days of refreshing the city’s vaccine website, hoping and praying to score a coveted appointment.

New Yorkers no longer need to book ahead of time to get a Pfizer or Moderna shot at city-run clinics, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday.

“We want to get everyone in who hasn't been vaccinated yet,” de Blasio said. “We want to make it simple. We want to encourage people and let's face it, convenience matters to New Yorkers.”

New York City has also removed geographic restrictions, de Blasio said. That means anyone can get a shot — and a cool sticker — at Citi Field.

Queens’ other city-run walk-up locations include the Modell's at Queens Center Mall, Korean Community Services in Bayside, Beach Channel Educational Campus, Long Island City Plaxall Vaccine Site, the Flushing and Ozone Park branches of the Queens Public Library and Queensborough Community College.

The announcement comes after the city began allowing New Yorkers over age 50 to get the vaccine without an appointment earlier this month and illustrates the surge in shot supply citywide.

As of Friday morning, healthcare workers had administered 6,004,406 vaccine doses in New York City. The city’s seven-day positivity rate was 4.45 percent.
