Mr. Met goes to bat for Bloomberg
/By David Brand
It takes a big head to run for president.
Maybe that’s why Mr. Met will be on hand Thursday to help ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign team christen a brand new field office on Bell Boulevard in Bayside.
Bloomberg, a billionaire business owner who served three terms as New York City mayor, has already spent tens of millions of dollars on his late bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. The money has funded a sweeping TV and radio ad campaign, as well as field offices across the country.
The Bayside office, located at 39-36 Bell Boulevard, will celebrate its grand opening with food from various local eateries.
Bloomberg is considered a long-shot to win the Democratic nomination, but if his presidential bid falls through, maybe he will consider buying the Mets. The hedge-fund billionaire who had previously agreed to purchase a majority stake in the ball club has reportedly backed out of the deal.
