Two Queens lawmakers teamed up with the owner of the borough’s brand new soccer club to send surgical masks to staff at Jamaica Hospital, where resources have been severely strained by the coronavirus crisis.

U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks and Councilmember I. Daneek Miller assisted Queensboro FC boss Jonathan Krane in compiling and sending the batch of masks.

“It will take all of us working together to get through this pandemic, and across Queens, we are seeing people step up to support one another,” Meeks said  “Our healthcare workers are making tremendous sacrifices, and this donation will help remind them that all of Queens is supporting them.”

Queensboro FC, first reported by the Eagle in October 2018, will compete in the United Soccer League Championship division, a tier below Major League Soccer in the hierarchy of U.S. soccer leagues. In addition to Krane, the ownership group includes legendary Spanish striker David Villa.
