A series of maps obtained by the Eagle illustrate the geographic distribution of campaign donations for five Democratic candidates for Queens District Attorney, revealing where and from whom the cash flows.

Borough President Melinda Katz gets a lot of money from Midtown Manhattan. Former judge Gregory Lasak rakes in the dough from law enforcement interests, several of whom list their addresses on Long Island. And public defender Tiffany Cabán racked up a large number of donations from outside New York City, at least compared to the other candidates (She also received more donations from inside Queens than the other candidates).

The maps obtained by the Eagle also plot the donations to former state Attorney General’s Office prosecutor Jose Nieves and attorney Betty Lugo.

The mapmaker was unable to plot the donations to former Civilian Complaint Review Board Director Mina Malik and Councilmember Rory Lancman because of problems with the Board of Elections’ website.

Of note: Not a single candidate received many contributions from Southeast Queens, a powerful voting bloc that could be the key to the race — and which community leaders say is often ignored leading up to elections.
