New York Jet Quinnen Williams’ gun possession case in Queens Criminal Court was administratively adjourned for a later date, his attorney said.

The New York Post reported on the delay in the case against Williams, who was arrested at LaGuardia while carrying an unloaded pistol and ammunition in his luggage. He was set to be arraigned on a desk appearance ticket in Queens Criminal Court Wednesday, but the COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted most normal court functions.

Williams, a second-year defensive tackle drafted third overall by the Jets in 2019, was arrested on March 3 with the gun, which his attorney said he was licensed to carry in his native Alabama.

Individuals can travel with firearms properly stored in their checked baggage, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

“Mr. Williams respects and follows the law. There was allegedly a technical issue with the manner in which the lawfully owned firearm was stored — and we expect the matter to be resolved shortly,” said defense attorney Alex Spiro in a statement tweeted by Williams’ agent, Nicole Lynn.
