It’s Fortnite in Flushing, and someone is about to get very, very rich.
The massively popular online battle royale is hosting its World Cup Finals at Queens’ Arthur Ashe Stadium from July 26 to 28. The video game event features a $30 million prize pool.
In order to reduce the number of scalpers and bots who buy tickets, Fortnite developer Epic Games opened a pre-registration portal on April 8 for a chance to purchase tickets to the tournament, with prices starting at $50 for a three-day pass. Registration is currently closed as of press time.
All fans who managed to purchase tickets to the three-day event will receive V-Bucks — Fortnite’s in-game currency — and a Season 10 Battle Pass. Ticket purchasers must be present to claim the items.
The World Cup Finals features a $30 million prize pool. Weekly online qualifiers opened up on April 13 and will continue until June 16. Participants in those tournaments have a chance to win part of a $1 million prize pool.
