Flushing Town Hall will provide free art kits to young Queens residents Thursday as part of an initiative that allows local residents to use design to express their emotions related to the COVID-19 crisis, institutional racism and other issues.

Artists of all levels have contributed to Flushing Town Halls outdoor project, Call and Response: Grief, Resiliency and Hope, which lines a fence along Northern Boulevard.

Staff at the nonprofit want more children to participate in the project and will provide the free art kits from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We are at a pivotal time in our nation’s history, faced with a COVID-19 pandemic and with the epidemic of institutional racism and abuse that has eroded the fabric of our society,”  says Flushing Town Hall Executive and Artistic Director Ellen Kodadek. “We want to provide a platform for the public to express our range of emotions as a path toward a more inclusive and equitable world.”
