A 6-year-old boy was attacked by a stranger in Kew Gardens, near the intersection of Metropolitan Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard, Thursday.

Laurance Gendreau, the man who allegedly attacked the child, was arrested and charged with assault, harassment and acting in a manner injurious to a child, according to the NYPD.

Gendreau, 35, allegedly picked up the boy and threw him on the concrete without provocation. The boy was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a head injuries.

“He has hemorrhaging, bleeding on the brain, concussions, [a] collapsed lung, [and] two skull fractures hopefully in places that can heal,” the boy’s grandfather Naftali Portnoy told the New York Post. “They’re monitoring for seizures.”

The NYPD told the Post that Gendrea underwent psychiatric evaluation at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
