New York City sheriff’s deputies busted an illegal rave in Cunningham Park early Sunday morning, scattering more than 100 people who partied together in defiance of COVID-19 regulations.

Four organizers were charged for criminal, health and park violations for the event in Fresh Meadows, which the Sheriff’s office referred to as a “rave."

The officers who broke up the party found a setup complete with a DJ, bouncers, a bar and hookah service, according to a tweet from the Sheriff’s Department.

Law enforcement found out about the party through social media and watched as attendees were dropped off by buses before making their way into a clearing, a spokesperson for the sheriff told the Queens Post. The partiers were not following COVID-19 safety requirements, like social distancing, the spokesperson said.

The Sheriff’s Department did not respond to a request for comment.
