Patrons at Sac’s Place in Astoria will be eating for a good cause on April 30, as the restaurant hosts an annual fundraiser to support local HIV/AIDS service organizations.

The Italian eatery is owned by brothers Anthony and Domenico Sacramone, whose roots in the Abruzzo region inspire their food ethos. The location at Kaufman-Astoria Studios opened at the end of January, but the family has been slinging pizza pies since 1989, when they worked out of a shop on Broadway and 29th Street.

A portion of sales from participating restaurants like Sac’s will support food and nutrition programs at The Alliance for Positive Change, now in the third year of partnership with Dining Out For Life.

“Just by dining out, New Yorkers can make a difference in someone’s life and help us to continue to serve healthy, nutritious meals to people in need,” said Alliance CEO and Executive Director Sharen Duke. “At a time when more people are experiencing hardship when trying to put food on the table, Alliance is stepping up — but only with your help.”

“All New Yorkers need to do is just dine at one of the generous restaurants that want to help people to feel better, live better, and do better,” Duke added.

The last two years of the partnership raised $125,000. All proceeds go to helping New York City residents supported by Alliance, which has committed to meeting the demand for nutritious food.

Restaurants can still sign up to participate.
