An interactive exhibition paying homage to the lost art of 5 Pointz has a permanent home in the shops at Laguardia Airport’s new Terminal B.

The digital mural, created by Patten Studio with help from 5 Pointz’s curator Marcie-Cecile Flageul, allows passengers to create their own portraits against backdrops created by a slew of 5Pointz artists including Meres One, Djalouz & Doudoustyleart, Monsieur Plume, Jimmy C, and Dustin Spagnola.

The studio wrote the software to “paint” users' faces onto pieces of art that can then be shared on social media.

“People used to travel to 5 Pointz from around the world, and today (during normal times) people around the world pass through LaGuardia Airport in much the same way, so there's a really lovely poetic symmetry to this reincarnation of the 5 Pointz aerosol art mecca,” a Patten Studio spokesperson said.

The 5Pointz installation is one of three digital works the studio installed in the terminal, including a bookshelf in the Strand showcases the cityscapes while highlighting Queens “as a major metropolis in its own right.”
