Queens Borough President Donovan Richards announced his third “Borough Hall on Your Block”, which will take the initiative to events in Northwest Queens next week.

From Monday, Aug. 21 to Saturday, Aug. 26, Richards will be hosting public events in Elmhurst, Corona, East Elmhurst and Jackson Heights.

“You shouldn’t have to navigate the halls of government on your own when you have an issue,” Richards said. “True representative government brings its resources and services directly to the people, and that is at the heart of our Borough Hall on Your Block initiative.”

“My team and I can’t wait to spend next week in Northwest Queens, creating connections with families directly where they live,” he added. “We look forward to seeing as many of our neighbors as possible throughout what should be a stellar week of programming and relationship building.”

Richards first began the “Borough Hall on Your Block” initiative in June 2022. The first week-long event took place in Southeast Queens in August 2022, and the next was held in Western Queens in February 2023.

The goal of the event is to “directly connect area families with not only the government services they need but the individualized attention they deserve from Borough President Richards and his staff.”

The week will kick off with a press conference announcing the Borough President’s allocation of $3 million to NYC hospitals will take place at NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst at 10 a.m.

Later in the day, a self-defense and upstander training workshop will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Queens Center for Gay Seniors.

On Tuesday, the Northwest Queens jobs recruitment fair will take place at the Elmhurst branch of the Queens Public Library, from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Thursday, another press conference announcing the Borough President’s allocation of $1.05 million toward the reconstruction of the Travers Park basketball courts will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the park.

Also on Thursday, an immigrant resource fair and pop-up pantry at Corona Plaza will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Bystander Intervention training program will take place at the Apicha Community Health Center in Jackson Heights from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As he has with the other “Borough Hall on your Block” events, there will be a town hall for Northwest Queens. The BP’s office will host a community conversation about local quality-of-life issues at Aliento de Vida Christian Church from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday

On Friday, a youth and young adult leadership summit will be at the Hall of Science from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
