York College’s students, faculty and staff were evacuated from the school’s campus Monday morning after an anonymous bomb threat was made to the Jamaica school.

NYPD officers in the 103rd Precinct received the anonymous threat – later determined to be a hoax – around 10:15 a.m., on Monday, March 7, according to law enforcement.

The threat, which was unfounded, prompted the response of additional units to the CUNY school around 10:45 a.m., police said. No bombs or explosive devices have been found, according to the NYPD.

School officials ordered an evacuation of the school’s five buildings, according to a York College spokesperson.

By noon, the school announced that classes for the day had been canceled.

By early afternoon, the NYPD determined the call to be a hoax and cleared the campus for students and staff to return, according to a York College spokesperson.

“We are grateful to our college community for responding to this emergency in a calm, cooperative and organized manner, and we appreciate the quick and thorough response of the NYPD; working together, we were able to ensure that our campus remains safe for our community,” the spokespersons said.

In-person classes and other campus activities will resume as scheduled on Tuesday.
