A Queens-born real estate developer who made history by becoming the first man from the World’s Borough to be impeached – and who made history again when he was impeached a second time – announced Tuesday that he’s launching his third bid for the U.S. presidency.

Donald Trump announced his 2024 presidential campaign on Tuesday evening from Mar-a-Lago, Florida, where the former Jamaica Estates resident currently lives. He won his race for the seat in 2016 and lost in 2020, failing to win the popular vote both times.

On Wednesday, the New York Post described the event with the headline “Florida man makes announcement.” Readers of the Eagle will know that despite Trump’s decampment to the Sunshine State, the man is a Queens kid, as documented in several headlines that ran in this publication.

The Eagle was there for Trump’s first impeachment – “Queens man impeached” – and for his second impeachment – “Queens man impeached - again.” The Eagle was also there when Trump was forced to turn over the keys to the White House to President Joe Biden – “Queens man evicted.”

Trump likely won’t be returning to Queens for a leisurely stroll down memory lane anytime soon.

The former president and his organization are currently the subjects of a lawsuit brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who has alleged that the organization has engaged in financial fraud. He and his organization face several other investigations in New York, as well.

Trump also remains under investigation by the Department of Justice, which raided his Florida home in search of classified documents he allegedly stole from the White House.
