Flushing Town Hall is hosting a hybrid rock and roll show on July 30 for audiences in-person and online to help bring high energy back to the borough after a year without live shows.
The Emilie Surtees Experience Band will perform “Proud Mary”– Rock & Roll Ladies,” a performance dedicated to the great women performers of the genre.
“After an incredulous year-and-a-half of challenges and inspirations, I feel truly blessed and elated to perform great music by iconic female rock & roll artists,” Surtees said. “I look forward to seeing audiences again and to hearing them sing loud and proud along with our band!”
Surtees said the music created and performed by the artists she will be paying homage to “not only aptly describe love in all its turmoil and glory, but [are] songs that let us know we're not alone on our journey.”
Cover performances will include selections from Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, and Heart.
There will be 42 tickets available for the in-person performance in honor of the venue’s 42 anniversary, and unlimited tickets for online viewing.
“We are excited to bring Emilie’s tremendous talent to Flushing Town Hall,” said Executive and Artistic Director Ellen Kodadek. “It has been such a difficult and somber period amidst the pandemic. I can think of no greater way to give our audiences some much-needed joy and release than with a fun, rock & roll concert.”
