Pandemic restrictions won’t stop the flowers from blooming along the Long Island City waterfront.

The Hunters Point Parks Conservancy is looking for volunteers to plant more than 12,000 annuals during its Sixth Annual LIC Bulbfest, which takes place throughout Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunter’s Point South Park on Oct. 31. The flowers will grow and blossom when the ground thaws next spring.

“The parks have never been more important to our community and this year's Bulbfest promises to be extra special,” said Hunters Point Parks Conservancy President Rob Basch.

This year’s Bulbfest has a Halloween theme — it takes place on Oct. 31 — and participants can win a prize for best “planting appropriate” costume.

All volunteers are required to wear masks. Tools provided by the conservancy will be sanitized.

To ensure the safety of all, participants are asked to register for timed entry starting at 9:30 a.m and staggered to limit crowding.
