A passenger was killed and a driver seriously injured when their car crashed into a tree at the intersection of South Conduit Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in South Ozone Park.

The 34-year-old driver lost control of the 2007 Jeep she was driving as she approached the Nassau Expressway overpass, police said. Her passenger, 36-year-old Dewayne Williams of Brooklyn, died when the car struck a tree.

The accident took place shortly before 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The driver, who was not yet identified by police, was taken to Jamaica Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.

No arrests were made and the NYPD Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad continues to investigate the fatal crash.
