A Springfield Gardens man died after being shot and left unconscious just blocks from his home yesterday, according to police.

Pernell Cudjoe, 27, was found to be unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest near 180th Street and 145th Avenue when police from the105th Precinct arrived at the scene just before 7 p.m. Cudjoe lived just blocks away on 145th Drive.

EMS also responded and rushed Cudjoe to Jamaica Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police told the Eagle that there were no suspects and an investigation was still on going as of Wednesday morning.

There have been 39 shooting incidents citywide in 2019, according to the most recent NYPD CompStat data, with just 9 occurring in Queens.
