A Jamaica man was shot and killed by an unknown assailant outside his home Tuesday evening.

When police responding to a 911 call arrived at a home on 171st Street, they found Mohammed Rizwan, 57, with a gunshot wound to his chest. Rizwan’s family heard the gunshots and called 911 just after 5:45 p.m.

EMS brought Rizwan to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

One of Rizwan’s neighbors told the Daily News that Rizwan rented rooms in the two-story home and that people came to the house to complain that there rooms weren’t ready.

“People came regularly saying they wanted their money,” the neighbor told the News. “Last week two guys were trying to kick down the door to get in. This pregnant woman came again and again, but her room was never ready.”
